Shikhar Dhawan dominates Don Bradman, Virender Sehwag vs Sri Lanka in Galle Test

Shikhar Dhawan’s scintillating 190 on the opening day of the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle on Wednesday put him at par with batting greats like Sir Don Bradman and Virender Sehwag. 

Shikhar Dhawan scored 126 runs between lunch and tea session as the Indian opener became only the third batsman after Don Bradman and Virender Sehwag in the history of Test cricket to score 100-plus runs in a session twice. 

 


Dhawan had scored 106 runs between lunch and tea break during his Test debut against Australia at Mohali in 2012-13. Bradman had scored 115 and 107 runs in one session twice against England during 1930 and 1934 Tests, respectively.

Virender Sehwag too accomplished the feat twice in his glittering career. He scored 109 runs in a session against Pakistan during the 2005-06 Lahore Test.

Sehwag repeated his act in the 2007-08 Chennai Test against South Africa, scoring 108 runs in a session. He eventually ended up accumulating 319 in that innings.

While Bradman and Sehwag went on to score a double and triple tons in those innings, Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t emulate these batting greats in this aspect.
